What is it?

A different way to cover your deposit

Reposit is a deposit replacement product used by letting agents across the UK. Instead of paying a traditional tenancy deposit — usually the equivalent of five weeks' rent, locked away for the length of your tenancy — Reposit lets you pay a smaller, non-refundable fee (typically one week's rent, subject to a minimum charge) that covers the same purpose. You're still responsible for any damage or unpaid rent at the end of the tenancy, in the same way you would be with a traditional deposit — Reposit just changes how much cash you need to find upfront.

Not every property is set up for Reposit. It depends on the individual landlord's agreement with us, so please ask your ATLAS contact whether it's available before you apply for a specific home — we'll always confirm this with you directly.

Why tenants choose it

The benefits

Save money up front

Moving is expensive enough already. Reposit reduces the lump sum you need to find before you can pick up the keys.

Free up your cash

Keep the money that would otherwise be locked away for the length of your tenancy — spend it on the move, furnishing your new home, or simply keep it in your own account.

Fairer dispute resolution

Traditional deposit schemes can take weeks to resolve a dispute, with your money tied up the whole time. With Reposit, you only pay for what's genuinely owed at the end of the tenancy.

Great for groups

Moving in with housemates? The Reposit fee is split between everyone named on the tenancy, so no one person has to cover it alone.

The process

How Reposit works

Ask about Reposit

Let your ATLAS contact know you'd like to use Reposit for your chosen property. We'll confirm whether the landlord has it set up.

Sign up & pay

Reposit sends you a link to register and pay your fee on their platform. This needs to be done before your tenancy starts.

Move in

That's it — you're ready to move in. You can keep your details up to date through your own Reposit dashboard for the length of your stay.

End of tenancy

Most tenancies end with nothing further to pay. If there are valid charges — for cleaning, damage or rent owed — Reposit will notify you, and you can accept and pay or raise a dispute.

Transparent pricing

What it costs

Reposit is upfront about its fees. Most tenants only ever pay the initial fee — the others only apply in specific circumstances.

FeeAmount
Upfront Reposit fee (in place of a traditional deposit)Equivalent to 1 week's rent, subject to a minimum of £150 — split between all named tenants
Annual fee£30, split between all named tenants — only charged if the tenancy runs beyond 12 months
Dispute fee£60, split between all named tenants — only if you choose to dispute an end-of-tenancy charge; fully refunded if your dispute succeeds

Common questions

FAQs

Is the Reposit fee refundable?

Before your tenancy starts, the fee is refundable at no extra cost if you change your mind. Once your tenancy has started, the fee is non-refundable and can't be offset against any charges at the end of the tenancy — it's a service charge, not a deposit.

Am I still responsible for damage or unpaid rent?

Yes. Just as with a traditional deposit, you remain liable for any valid, properly evidenced charges at the end of your tenancy — cleaning, damage, or rent still owed. The difference is you only pay for what you actually owe, rather than a lump sum being held for the whole tenancy. Reposit is not tenant insurance, and you're always responsible for the commitments in your tenancy agreement.

What if I disagree with a charge at the end of my tenancy?

You can raise a dispute through Reposit's own process (a £60 fee applies, fully refunded if your dispute is successful). See Reposit's own FAQs at support.reposit.co.uk for the full dispute process.
